Liquid Asphalt Sealcoating
Our main asphalt sealcoating is a petroleum based sealer, called BLACKMAC, which is a great sealer for harsh northern climates like Canada. Used for parking lots, driveways, walkways and bicycle paths.
It’s designed to penetrate and recondition the asphalt surface.
The sealer is resistant to salt and is highly protective from weather – oxidization from the sun, erosion from water and ice, and general wear and tear. It bears the brunt of traffic so that your asphalt doesn’t have to.
It’s applied via a pressurized spray system to fill hairline cracks and small voids in the surface for a smooth even finish.
It takes about 24 hours for the oil-based sealer to dry. We don’t recommend you allow any vehicle or foot traffic over that 24 hours. Foot traffic is usually acceptable after 24 hours and vehicle traffic after 48 hours. Weather conditions, such as temperature, may affect the drying time.
The sealer will settle to a matte black finish after about a week.
Hot-Applied Joint & Crack Sealant
To seal larger cracks we use a high performance hot-applied sealant called MACSEAL.
It’s manufactured utilizing a combination of engineered asphalts, polymers, recycled crumb rubbers, UV inhibitors, and adhesion promoters.
The sealant is heated to melting temperature and applied directly to the crack to provide protection against repeated freeze-thaw cycles and and the intrusion of water and debris.
Site Preparation
- cut back grass to clean and expose the edge of driveway for a complete application
- remove debris from larger cracks for deeper penetration of the sealant
- sweep and blow debris off of the asphalt to ensure better product adhesion
- tape off edges of interlock or sidewalks as an added layer of protection
Sealant Application
- larger cracks are first filled with hot-applied sealant
- hard to protect areas will have product applied manually with brush or roller
- sealcoating is then sprayed over the remaining area while employing physical barriers to protect the surrounding property from any overspray
- we will add a caution tape barrier at the end of your driveway, where appropriate, to protect your investment while it cures
